Baulkham Hills is older than most of the Hills — substantially 1960s to 1980s brick veneer on generous blocks, much of it built on former orchard land. That age band is the sweet spot for switchboard work, and it's the bulk of what we do here.

Homes from the 60s and early 70s frequently still have ceramic rewireable fuses. There is no way to add RCD protection to that kind of board, so any meaningful electrical work triggers a full board replacement. Homes from the late 70s and 80s usually have circuit breakers but often no safety switches at all — which looks modern enough that owners reasonably assume they're protected, and aren't.

The wiring itself is generally sound. This is mostly early PVC TPS rather than the rubber-insulated cable you find in Hornsby or Wahroonga, so full rewires are much less common here. What does come up is heat degradation in roof spaces — Baulkham Hills roof cavities get very hot, and the lighting circuits up there age faster than the wall circuits below.
