Electrician in Kellyville
Switchboards, downlights, pools and EV chargers for Kellyville's 1990s and 2000s estates.
What we actually see in Kellyville
Kellyville is overwhelmingly project-home stock from the 1990s and 2000s, built on the old market-garden and orchard land that the estates replaced. That gives it a very consistent electrical profile, which is unusual and quite useful — most Kellyville homes fail in the same ways at the same age.
The dominant one is downlights. The late 1990s and 2000s were peak halogen, and Kellyville has a great many ceilings full of them. The insulation was cut away around each fitting to keep clearance, so a large share of these homes have a compromised thermal envelope on top of the heat risk. LED conversion with IC-4 rated fittings fixes both at once, and it's the most common job we do here.
The second is capacity. Boards from that era are compliant but were specified to the load of the day — no induction, no ducted air on every zone, no pool heat pump, and certainly no EV. Kellyville has high EV uptake and a lot of pools, and both run into the same wall: no spare ways at the board.
Pools are the third theme. A great many Kellyville pools are now 20-plus years old, which means original halogen pool lights failing and pump circuits that were never RCD protected.

Kellyville questions
Why do so many Kellyville homes need downlight conversion?
Because the estates were built during peak halogen. Those fittings run hot, the insulation was cut away around them, and the transformers fail steadily with age. Converting to IC-4 rated LEDs fixes the heat risk, the running cost and lets the insulation be reinstated.
Can I add an EV charger to a Kellyville project home?
Usually, but check the board first. Boards from the 1990s and 2000s are compliant but often have no spare ways, because they were sized for the load of that era. If the board is full, that upgrade comes first.
My pool light has failed. Is it worth converting to LED?
Yes. Most older halogen pool lights can be retrofitted with an LED unit into the existing niche — far longer life, much lower power, and usually colour options. Given how many Kellyville pools are now 20-plus years old, we do a lot of these.
Why does my safety switch trip after rain?
Almost always water in an outdoor point, a garden light or a pool-area fitting. Common on the larger Kellyville blocks with a lot of outdoor electrical. It's the RCD doing its job.
Do you cover the newer parts of Kellyville?
Yes — North Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge and the newer pockets are all within our normal patch, along with the established estates.
